I feel deeply something but I've ruled out "religious" unless taken literally as tied back to God,
in which case we're all equally religious & how deeply is irrelevant.

Deeply is quite a strong term. I would like to think i am religious, but not deeply.

What would it take to make you deeply religious? Like if Damascus was wiped out, and geopolitical events in general started falling inline with scripture, would that be enough? And if so, what would you do?

I'm a Christian, I'm religious in the true sense of the word but I suspect OP's definition hints at legalism. I'm not at all legalistic.

I went to a catholic school for 10 years and when i graduated and went to public high school i realized all the stuff i was lied to about. Even tho that make me upset with the church i completely respect anyones decision on whether to be religious or not, just dont shove it in my face

I would be intrigued to hear what you mean by, 'religion'.
I think Catholicism as a whole is MASSIVELY legalistic which I feel, having spoken to many people on this subject, is the secular society's view on all types of faith. It irritates me when people class me as religious because I really am not. I think it needs to be made more clear what religion actually means.

So I hear this from the evangelical Christian churches and wonder what you mean by religion.
I've spoken about my faith on here before

I thought, after reading both posts it would be fairly obvious that there is no real contradiction there. Most people who use the word religious these days don't mean it in its Christian context.

I've spoken about my faith on here before
I mean it in the biblical sense.
If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless. 27 Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. (James 1:26-7)
I see Catholicism's religion to be echoed in Matthew 23:27-28
27 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people's bones and all uncleanness. 28 So you also outwardly appear righteous to others, but within you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

That's a pretty narrow definition of religious. I also don't know it works as a definition when it ignores other religions. State it clearer and maybe.

I really like religion - especially religious art...
But I am the first one to smash it (religion, not the art) - the second people start using it inappropriately...
I think religion - instituted - is basically a failure at law.
And Western religions especially - can be the worst - most backwards - and stiffling
as far as science - medicine - ethics concerning freedom - and just moving into the future - in general - is concerned
but yeah - natural religious expression can be fascinating...
Like recently when I was setting up a pumpkin feeding station for the animals in my yard...
and I heard a noise from the trees - and at my feet appeared a perfectly preserved turtle shell...
It's a sacred personal treasure of mine now...

I used the phrase, 'religious in the true sense of the word'.
