It's not getting your music out there that's hard. It's making good music. If your music is truly good, getting "signed" or "recognized" is the easy part. Keep making better music and push yourself to be more original and creative, keep pushing the envelope of creativity and always remember that music is a playground, the surface is yours.
Lol everytime i've said this someone has come along and argued that it's down to luck!

Hard work and determination, making good music. This is all someone should focus on if they want to get signed, there's no point in spamming labels until you have the content.

Of course - hard work & determination make good music (though, I do notice you also left out the most important ingredient... TALENT)

And OF COURSE there is no point in spamming labels until you have the content... in fact, there is no point in spamming labels at all! One should never blanket spooj EVER... Target-focus the labels that *both* you want your music to be aligned with artistically and your music works well with. Releasing on a label for the sake of releasing on a label does no one any favors.

And at the core of VirtualMark's argument... I agree. Simply releasing on a label is not down to luck... as pretty much anybody who can fart out a beat can release on a label.

**However.. having a *SUSTAINABLE* career does involve some luck. Luck does not supercede hard work or talent or determination... but ask anyone who has been in the game for longer than 10-15 years.. and I defy you to find *anyone* (that doesn't have something to sell you) that there isn't luck involved from time to time).

And of course, lol at anyone in this thread offering advice who hasn't actually been signed, released, toured, etc.

I always love it when people who haven't done ANYTHING with their craft try to tell it like it is. Who here who has doubted luck's involvement has successfully supported themselves purely on their music for 5 or more years?

If anyone wants to speak up - go ahead... there is plenty of embarrassment waiting for you.

This is not to say luck is PURELY responsible for success... but to ignore it is stupid. Don't believe me? Go ahead, I have decades of experience in multiple genres. Your reading/watching of the latest Tony Robbins chapter has no grounds.
