listen to what you want to make, then go practice. then when you think you've got it down, practice a shitload more.

Bring a dubstep tune you like into your daw and chop it into sections (intro, build, drop.. Etc) now you know how to structure a tune

The structure I notice the most is

Intro | Bass | Slightly different bass | Variation on the intro | Heavier bass | Slightly different bass | Intro as the outro

I most certainly did not. Read:

I don't understand why everyone is trolling. Claudedefaren is right - a lot of EDM does rely on build ups and heavy drops.

i literally never said that most edm is comprised of buildups and drops. i told the dude to research those terms because he's making dubstep. the lot of you have the reading comprehension of a twelve year old

Recreating one of your favorite songs is a great way to learn structure!! And then when you have all the elements in place, shuffling this hi hat, change that bass sound, change the melody, add a break, switch to faster drums, or save the project and use it as a reference :) how do you think guitarists do it :P

Also Go to Loopmasters.com spend $35 US on High Rankins Ableton Projects... Load them up and study!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And whi cares about terminology!!! You can call your drop a verse and the 2nd second part a break or call it drop a then drop b. in other genres it might be called somethin different, but it's the same thing! Our drop is their verse or whatever, but it will always be intro, hook/build, verse/drop and of course there's things inbetween, but regardless every genre of music that we have heard in the "western" world(i have heard lol) has that basic structure. Call it a drop, call it a verse, call it the main part, who cares?! It's music in segments, break it down to your terms and never tell anybody what you call them :P
