See it originated on the production board when one would call someone out for posting a bunch of shoddy info (like you know when they take some air of superiority of technical skills when just last week they had a song chilling in their sig that sounded like it was made all of presets or just completely contradictory to what they're claiming they know/are experts of), then devolved into usually some bickering and name calling, then put up or shut up with set rules of anonymous submissions for the court of public opinion to vote which sounded better, usually with some stakes added on, like retire your forum name, or wear a sig of shame for like a month.
Somewhere along the line some giddy kids wanted to instigate it for every little disagreement (even arguments they weren't evn in) since they love drama, and now they think it settles every argument even in the hideout.

There needs to be at least some history between the two parties though. Can't just call out someone for posting waste otherwise the whole board would be at it all the time.
