I disagree. I have to write an essay start to finish. From the first sentence to the last sentence. Or else it just doesn't work. Same with music. I have all the sounds in ableton's session view that will make up the biggest part of the song before doing anything, but I always lay out the arrangement for the intro first, finish the intro in it's entirety, then move on to the next part. Or else it just doesn't work for me, and I will struggle with that song.

Different things work for different people. But both are valid options. I'm bad at writing essays so a little tip my wife gave me was to brainstorm different ideas that you want to talk about for each paragraph then arange them into a coherent structure.

Same applies to music. Thing about what you want each section of your song to sound like and what you might want to put in it, than arrange it into something that makes sence.

You really don't need expensive plug-in's to create something great. You just need skill/talent. Don't believe me? Check out the "Cool Stuff" folder under "Projects" in FL Studio 11, and look for the "Gimbal & Sinan - Futorial," called "RawFL." That track is insane, and the only synth used to create the bass and most of the SFX was 3xOsc, one of the MOST underrated synths in history.

Learn how to synthesise the sounds you like, then demo some programs that sound like the can give you the sounds that you like.

As for the inspiration ... Just listen to what you like, and think of ways on how you could "improve" on what you hear. From there you just keep on trying to improve ... Oh and be prepared to go for a long time until you get a full song down ... A COUPLE YEARS.

Also the intro isn't the hardest part to create -- the drop is, at least from my perspective.

To get started, just lay down some chords -- easy -- find a melody that goes with that -- semi-difficult -- and then rip out your hair with frustration, because it's not as easy as I make it sound.

It's easy to make, but difficult to make sound GOOD.

But WTF do I know? I haven't even made a dubstep track yet. ;D

no offense but everyone needs to learn how to use the edit button. if you are going to write two consecutive posts, just edit your first post and write it in there.

At least you know it sounds shit. Which is a really good starting place. You can keep moving notes around untill something sounds right. Don't really worry about mixing anything right now seeing as you just started producing. The most important things will be just getting the tracks done. Finish it up, post it in the appropriate thread, and listen to the feedback. Do that 1000 more times and your sure to make a banger.

Yeah you should post your drop and then you'll probably be able to get better specific advice on how to make it better :)

I just had a quick flick through the thread so I'm not sure if I'm repeating what anybody else has said, so sorry about that.
But the way you've put it makes it sound like you're trying to write the intro first, that's cool, but if you're having trouble writing an intro don't write the intro first! You can always move stuff around afterwards. So my first tip would be if you're having trouble writing a certain part of a song, move on to something you might find a bit easier. Try the drums first, go to your Itunes, or Youtube and search for the sound you want. Don't copy it straight over, just grab little bits like "Oh that snare sounds sick!" then you could go search for a similar snare. Personally drums are the easiest part of a song to write, so start with that, and once you've wrote your beat, you can put everything else on top. So yeah basically I'd always start with the beat unless you already know how and what you want to write, and if you're stuck move onto something else you think you'd find easier to write, Hope I've helped man, good luck :D

don't try to make a scary monsters and nice sprites intro. it's so overdone. every producer thinks they need to make an ultra-musical intro to make up for the growl basses to come. don't fall into that pattern m8

True, if you check the track in my sig, I literally just took a 16 bar section from after the drop and stripped it down till I was happy with it. Intro's don't really have to be much if I'm honest.

I am actually quite new to creating Dubstep, i have been watching tutorials but I still don't know how to create the sounds i want, and some of them have plugins which i dont have nor just no money to get those plugins, i want to ask you guys, how do you guys get inspiration to create dubstep? Is intro the hardest part to create?? I just don't know how to create a good intro D:
Here's a quick tip which is really easy. This can be used for intros, outros, breaks, everything.

Make parts where you remove the kick, or the snare, or other percussion instruments. Then bring them back in again. This easily creates some dramatic transitions, where everything kind of dies down and then pops back in quickly. It's really easy and an awesome effect to add some new elements to your tracks.

There is no right way or wrong way to make dubstep. Here's a suggestion.

Take a dubstep song you like. And have it open in winamp or whatever you use. Listen to the intro and try to recreate it, or use it as a basis. Try to mimic their drum patterns and the way the introduce new sounds, in no time you'll have your own song that sounds completely different.

Don't listen to this guy. It's completely feasible to have a complete song done in your first month. What you do need to understand is that if you're expecting to be at the quality of your favorite producers, you're going to be disappointed. Getting good takes a lot of practice. The more you put in the quicker you'll develop. Just keep things in perspective and have fun.
