I never understood what they did beyond scratching on maybe a couple songs an album especially beyond the first couple albums (which were kind of Faith No More rip offs a bit anyway)

Yea I can't think of anything particularly amazing. I spent most of the 00 era metal/rock wise snagging the deals of the week on CDs at Best Buy which spawned lots of debut LPs from good groups and also one hit wonders. That and obscure punk and metal shows along with raves.
I want to say Slipknot despite how cheesy and shit they got, their first LP was great.
Incubus I just always loved their songwriting.

If we're gonna go that route Ozomatli/Jurassic 5 and Cut Chemist is a hell of a DJ
Yea it seemed like a 90s-00 gimmick to have a DJ in the band.

Indeed and I will defend Incubus like mad even though they're borderline emo and feel good band.
Brandon Boyd's new solo shit though seems so iffy.
His brothers band got big for a bit back then as well (same with Jonathan Davis' brothers group what was it about that era allowing siblings to ride coat tails?)

All those bands from that era just kinda gel together for me.
but their lads, therefore +1.
However the Yeah Yeah Yeahs had
Karen O :P
Who is born on the exact cusp of Scorpio and Sagittarius in 78' making her a Horse in the Chinese Zodiac,
I enjoyed jamming that first record but have only checked out Sacrilege off the new one.

really admire the short film in the video!

NYC Bands rule -The Strokes IMO, Strokes just jerk off more than me.
There was a movie about No-Wave, it's got some cool footage,
and sorta peps up the idea of starting a band, "film"z called "Kill Yer. Idols" after the first Sonic Youth 12"
She's on the latest Swans record too, "the Seer" and the video of Swans playin' Pirchfork MF is like 10 Mins of "heavy glory"
Michel Gria from Swans is one of my favorite members of the music community, his book of poetry is very impressive and rather a carefully written, suicide contemplative, tales of murder and metaphore. That book is called "The Consumer".

Anyways, in the movie it totally calls out the whole Rock and Roll "Swindle" because the YYYs were lit the IT band,
and they said out of nowhere came a "Band from NY" called The Strokes (Worst band name ever!) and
NO ONE IN NY HAD HEARD OF THEM

Don't see why some people don't just suggest bands that they think were the best, expand other people's musical awareness rather than just constantly fucking moaning.

interpol, idlewild, the strokes, kasabian, the arctic monkeys etc etc were all my favourites when i and most of britain listened to that kind of music around 2006, totally ignoring the start of dubstep.

wolf is probably going to tell me how shit i am as a human being.
