Like with the automation thing the way I do it which is pretty similar is just to take the same sound (maybe a snare or a onehit percussion) and have 3/4 different channels for it each processed differently (so one is sent to a long reverb, one a short, one is filtered, one is massively distorted etc) it means you can switch up your sounds throughout and keep it interesting. You could just automate it on the one channel but it's easier for me to see what's going on from an arrangement point of view (+ I never trust the automation in logic! :6: )

Tweaked a bit with your suggestions and layerd the snare with a crunchy sample.
Any improvements I could Make?

good shit m8 I like it a lot. wish I could give some constructive criticism but it sounds pretty tight. maybe change the kick pattern around a bit. it felt like too many kicks in the wrong spots. but the sounds themselves are good and I like that bassline.
