Sounds like a really basic supersaw - mutliple saws stacked over maybe 3-4 octaves with some tight reverb. It sounds big because of the notes he's used not because of the sound itself.

Use nexus if you want to be hated on by every producer in the entire world.

He has it right.
Listen to this song at around 2:30 and keep listening
Its the same concept. The chords sound big. But its not the sound.
These chords have about 14-17 notes in them. They have a lot of different notes that compliment each other, to make them sound really wide on the audio spectrum.
The only thing i can really correct is

You can't make powerful saws this way. It causes lots of phasing and just overpowers your song and uses too much CPU power. Start out with a basic chord.
Copy the chord and place it an octave higher. Change the chord to major, and bring the top note and octave lower. Filling in the spaces between the last octave.
Do this again, except keep it minor and move the middle note down an octave and the bottom note up an octave.
This will create a good 9 note chord.
Notes have to be in different places to sound phat. Not just octaves higher.

Hey guys,
I spent the last couple of days recreating the basses at the start of Zomboy's 'Terror Squad'.
You can watch the three tutorials and download the free pack containing the .ksd files and the Ableton project here:
Not sure if this is exactly how he made them, but got some quite close results. If you play around with these presets you might be able to get better results than I did. Good luck!
Cheers,
Xenflex

Yes you can assuming you use decent chords to start with.

Phasing isn't such a problem in higher octaves, especially if you account for it.
As for overpowering (esp. in higher octaves), EQ and compression can tame the sound.
Since when the hell are supersaws CPU intensive lol.

Depends on the chords you're using and the accompanying sounds (bassline/midrange).

This is my best attempt. Let me know if it's any good and i'll post the project file with the ksd!
That's awesome, I didn't get that close.
KSD/or explanation would be appreciated.

There's no way in hell he could have ripped it from such a short sample of audio. It's a good bass patch, people never give Zomboy credit where he's earned it.

The way to get that wobble/screechy bass is basically as Photon I think it was who suggested which was to use the carbon, that is probably how Josh made it, also add an ensemble chorus instead of a regular one, and to make it smoother filter of the very high frequencies, also add maybe 2 extra oscillators to thicken out the sound, these oscillators are very good for harmonics:
Groan III
Disto
Crude (Intensity in the middle)
AdditiveMix I
AdditiveMix III
Also maybe a sine wave with some distortion and shaping and lots of stereo expansion could help. These types of sounds also usually depend on bandpass/bandreject filters, and for this sound I think Josh used a bandreject with not much resonance. Just my theory but yeah hope that helped
