Depends on each individual release. Some vinyl pressings are terrible.
Inconnu wrote:2. it supports the artist more
Artists generally make more profit from digital sales than they do vinyl
Inconnu wrote:3. you get the artwork
If there is any...
Inconnu wrote:4. you can give it to your kids
Who won't be interested in it
Inconnu wrote:5. you can have it to look at
fair enough
Inconnu wrote:6. you can't lose it when your computer breaks
Most of the sites I download from have the option to download again at no extra cost. Also, cloud drives are pretty much making this argument redundant.
Inconnu wrote:7. you can play it at the wrong speed for lols if you want
You can do this using digital formats too
Inconnu wrote:8. you can sell it again if you want
fair point

I might be wrong but Im sure you only get a license when you buy digital audio files. There was this thing a few months back where this guy was writing his will and wanted to pass on his mp3 collection but there was some legal issue with it? Anyone?

EDIT. Nevermind it was bruce willis n itoons haha

Don't some records have writing on them saying you can't use to play commercially or something?

As for me, I just still can't cope with the desire of owning things physically if you know what I mean. Same with the books - I still buy paper books instead of using an e-reader (although it probably makes sense) just because I love seeing them on my shelf.

Reasons not to buy records -

1. I have travelled the world and experienced things I never would have if i'd spent all my spare cash on records
2. I can actually swing a cat in my house if I wanted to
3. Attachment to the illusion of permanence causes suffering

Deep.
I kind of agree though, even though I buy records every week :? I spend a lot of time worrying about my house being burgled or catching on fire...

still buy vinyl, but purely based on aesthetic reasons. and because a lot of really good stuff isn't available digitally.
