So badly written.

Adjectives applied to verbs (adverbs) almost always end with "ly" - eg. "he ran quickly" rather than "he ran quick". :w:

Not knowing this seems to be a pre-requisite for becoming a football pundit.

Conversation is the one. Try and do 10mins every time you talk to your missus in Spanish, even if it's only basic stuff like what you did during the day etc.

i think the difficult part of spanish are the verbs, but reading it and writting iit is quite easy compared to other languages like french :x

When I was first learning I downloaded a 'Top 100 verbs' list and then just tried to memorise 10 a day. Also, this site is amazing for verbs;

what year was that? Think I may have been there, we were intending to go and watch them but we fell asleep in the tent instead, on reflection it was probably for the best
I think it was 1999...
that sounds about right, I went either 1999 and 2000 or 2000 and 2001 and I know it was the first time I went that Manic's played

*edit* yes it was '99, I was asleep in the tent and woke up just as they were starting their set, decided not to bother
You didn't miss much. It was one of those ridiculously cold evenings, we were huddled round a cluster of around 8 of those shitty wax flares desperately trying to keep warm... then the rain came and everyone that wasn't already on suicide watch fucked off to watch Orbital.
Manics were headlining the year I went and that was were I first heard of orbital. 99 sounds familiar, I was 13/14. I remember super furry animals and blondie

Actually that's a more accepted correction in the States than it is over here; you were doing perfectly until your poorly chosen and badly uncapitalised Queen reference. :6:

Oh, sorry for the misunderstanding. I refer to my penis as 'the queen'.

There is a distinction, though, I hear, between the us/uk. But isn't badly more suitable for modifying feelings, like I feel badly about dropping her baby down the stairs? Here, you wouldn't use poorly in that sentence. Poorly is used more to evaluate performance. I produced poorly today. We'd never say, "I produced badly today." Maybe we would? There is a distinction there, in usage though. Am on hour 26, don't know why I'm so fascinated by this.

:E:

Without the weed.

Diego's English is now confirmed, better than mine. How you like that sentence? :rules:

I've already had to hand off correcting my 8yo's grammar homework to my wife, who is a teacher and a pain in the ass grammarian.

I (poorly) tried to mark the difference in my reply - badly should be used where there's an absolute (i.e. Diego formed his sentence badly, because it was incorrect according to fixed rules), poorly is where there's more of a sliding scale or when an opinion is involved - that the bible is written poorly is an opinion, hence poorly.

But yeah, apparently it's one of those things you guys enforce more than us. We've got nice and lax in the last few centuries without all you Puritan bastards on our backs.

I know, what a nice trick you played on us. Right. Oh don't go, we won't let you. Really.
