That 'first' Dubstep song that got you into the genre?
Re: That 'first' Dubstep song that got you into the genre?
we had this thread so many times but it's always fun to reminesce
but it was kokney thug at the time it was released. such a feel! so weird cuz it was something totally new. i had never heard anything even remotely like it. i was totally unfamiliar with garage or dnb so i had never even head wobble bass or anything befor that tune. shit was mindblowing. it was also fun cause at least here a few knew what dubstep was so i had this thing "of my own", which has always been a big thing for me in music, at least when i was younger. to have your "own ting"

Not the first tune I heard, but the one that made me want to find more.

I think it was Twissup? I didn't know the tune at the time had heard it on a 2005 mix from Youngsta at FWD>>. Was sold instantly though.
I make music as Forsaken, you can DL all my unreleased (and a couple released) bits here.

Skream - Dub Period and Dutch Flowers, both featured on the Dubstep Allstars vol. 4 compilation which was one of the first dubstep records I got a hold of
Joker & Rustie - Play Doe was also a big one for me early on
Love all three of them still!

first dubstep tune i heard was either rubber chicken or anti-war dub. i heard some dnb dj play anti war dub and my mate showed my fabric live 37 must be 6 or 7 years ago now

actually yeah this for me too, Rubber Chicken was the first dubstep tune I ever heard which I thought was pretty cool because it sounded like really lazy/stoned dnb, my mate then lent me Fabriclive 37, by the time it got to Girl From Codeine City I was 100% sold.m8son wrote:probably girl from codeine city

Heard the fabric live but didnt really get into dubstep cos of that. first heard a fair bit of bro but this was the tune that got me hooked:

All that melts away when the lights are down and the bass is up.

I was pretty late to the game, being a young un. I had been listening to some tear-out brosteppy rubbish, but I remember hearing this on Rinse before it came out and thinking "This is it." I texted in asking for ID but didn't get one, took me ages to find it.

rusko bloc mix was also gold, in addition to the fabriclive mix

Benga - 26 Basslines
Datsik - Gizmo & Havoc
Sukh Knight-Gangja Dub
These were the tunes that piqued my interest the most when i was first getting into it. From there I slowly started listening to Distance, Cluekid, Kromestar, Tunnidge and eventually Kryptic Minds..
