I do, and I just did on weds, my daughter had an awards assembly (got award for excellence, straight A's for the year).
But she goes to an absolutely schizophrenic school - the school is strongly nationalistic and libertarian with a student body that is 95% composed of h1b kids, ie their parents work for Cisco and are here on nonimmagrent visas.
At the start of the assembly we said the pledge of allegiance, the kids were screaming the pledge of allegiance the parents stood silently horrified at what their kids were doing.
When I pledge allegiance, I'm pledging allegiance to my family, to my community, and to our organizing principle that all men are created equal, that we are all endowed with fundamental rights, that our government, deriving its authority from the people, is charged with protecting those rights. But if our government, through a consistent effort destroys our rights, it is the responsibility of the people to correct the government.
I'm on my phone in the middle of a two hundred mile long desert, if someone could post up a feathered tear, that would be marvelous.
