i sold off a majority of my stuff last year... had thousands of records. cant really find any reasons i would want them back. i still buy music regularly, just digitally. i do miss art, i miss what kind of weird shit the artist would put in the packaging. odd little messages etched in the unpressed parts of the vinyl. still, i have no desire to ever return to lugging my records around.. ever. the only records i have bought recently are metal records. and, at least the bastards know to press their material on 7 inches for the most part.

Imo mp3s are great for when you're out or doing work, but personally if I want to listen to music as my main activity I prefer vinyl. plus it feels so good to come home on a Friday and pull out a few records and just play them as loud as possible

I still think analogue formats sound better so I support vinyl. Digital recordings might as well be on CD though, I'm not that fuss

With me Especially with roots/dub where a lot of stuff isnt online legitimately or in good quality vinyl's good.

Im not really about the Vinyl over errything/digi is babylon tho. At a night im not fussed about what the selectors playing on providing it sounds good.

Does anyone find that you feel more engaged with a DJ if they're spinning wax? Not that I feel disconnected from someone using CDJ's per se. Is that just because it's easier to put yourself in their shoes if you are used to doing the same yourself? It's a visibly more involved process I suppose. Physically pulling out and placing the next record, discarding the previous. Focusing intently on matching the beats, then riding it out in the mix. Just seeing the records spin as well. Could well be in my head but that whole process seems to facilitate a vibe in itself, and a heightened connection between DJ and dancefloor.

I just like the whole thing around it, that adds to the music imo. The sleeve art, the people who are passionate about the music. Also the collecting aspect of it.
I started DJing with Traktor vinyl, but I've just been gradually building a collection of actual records next to it.

I do agree a vinyl release should also be available digital though and if it has to be exclusive just give the download with the vinyl. Actually, always provide free download with the vinyl.

And the tunes are buried away in a horrible as fuck list you can't be arsed to read through with no credits, artwork or anything to make them stand out. Also the discs go on for fuck all time compared to a full album, which is how I like to listen to a full album. Having to put every track on one after the other would ruin it. Plus I'm not convinced my serato box (which is an old one) sounds anywhere near as good as playing the actual records. Plus I don't want to have to have my computer on to play music. Also you just wear the time code discs out if you use them to listen to stuff as normal with them super fast. Plus you don't get the records from a store you can visit. I'm probably not going to have my serato library as long as I've had my records. I've also got records that there is no trace of whatsoever online.

so no, that doesn't really work

3/4 deck sets need to happen just to keep me excited.

Vinyl? Its just nice, that feeling of the platter on your thumb as you slow down a record a little bit. Picking up a tune and holding it to the light to read the label and shit. I love all that and even when a mix is locked and beat matched you still gotta actually listen in case it goes out.

Once when I was very drunk and dancing in front of the the decks I looked over the DJ booth and managed to read "Griff - Bring In The Katz" spinning on one of the turntables, before it got mixed in which was pretty sick

main thing that puts me off serato is i would never want to rely on my laptop in a club setting, which would lead to me carrying around back-up records or cds
