I'm actually with Sonika on this one, I was going to post that MAPS newsletter and all.

Psychedelic substances can enhance cognition and perception, increase stamina etc. That's why the Japanese soldiers used crystal meth in WWII, just as modern soldiers use crazy army-approved stimulants that eventually cause them to hallucinate and bomb the shit out of the wrong thing (that happened in the recent Iraq war).

I'm surprised at you Mason, for someone supposedly studying science you're writing this off pretty quick without actually looking at what's going on...

I am equally surprised at you.

Surely it is common sense that drugs can improve your ability in various things? It is not this that i am disputing. Also lol what do you mean 'supposedly studying science', do you want proof that i am? haha.

I am saying that while of course they can enhance your ability it is not news whatsoever as people have been doing drugs to improve sporting ability for hundreds of years. What annoys me is that people seem to think that psychedelic drugs are somehow profoundly different to other types of drugs. While using a stimulant to increase stamina is a well known and established capability of a drug, the idea that psychedelic drugs may improve aptitude is somehow ground breaking and new?

I find it more surprising that we are discussing stimulants as though they are psychedelics.

What i am saying is how is a psychedelic drug increasing ability any different from a stimulant or any other drug class increasing ability? Of course they affect you in different ways but the concept is the same.

Also it could quite easily be argued that many stimulants with cognitive effects are psychedelics.

I actually sincerely apologise, I misinterpreted your post.

People getting in a big hullaballoo over it because it they also assume you just trip and be useful otherwise.
All the scientists aren't getting hyped because they assumed what you do.
