Re: Vibe Devices Across Your Whole Mix
Vinyl is an old go to for me, but I've never used it across an entire mix. Not sure if it is subtle enough, but for when you want really obvious color it's great. I've mostly used it on drums and instrument tracks to make them sound like they were sampled off a record.
Re: Vibe Devices Across Your Whole Mix
+1 for Satson on some channels and buses. fucking great, nice subtle filters and the 'fat' switch is cool for basses n kicks.
used in moderation Kramer Master Tape is great for some proper glue action across the entire mix.

Re: Vibe Devices Across Your Whole Mix
I posted this in the gearlust thread, but it might be more applicable here. This is a demo of the DIY Recording Equipment 500 series color module.
Ok, here's a quick run thru of what I did. The audio is a short snippet of a surf-ish track I am recording for a band. Drums, ukelele, and guitar. Made it mono and then ran it thru each of the three colors, in order of subtlest to most extreme. I did three different saturation amounts per color. At the start is the mono-ized version of the instrumental mixdown. I also put to dry version at the start of each color demo, so the format is: dry, color 1 setting 1, color 1 setting 2, color 1 setting 3, dry, color 2 setting 1, etc.
Its pretty impossible to absolutely match levels with a processor like this, but I did make them fairly close in terms of perceptual loudness (other than the extreme settings where they are both much louder but also much smaller waveforms )
https://www.dropbox.com/s/zjcmcw06di8hc ... t_Demo.wav
Keep in mind this is on an entire mix down. Im sure it will be able to do all sorts of crazy things on individual tracks. Maybe tomorrow I'll post individual elements like kick, bass, snare, etc. Send me something if you want to hear what it can do on your material
Edit, forgot to say, color 1 is the cinemag transformer, color 2 is the 15ips tape sim, color three is the TM79 double transformer module

Nice, must give it a listen. I'd like to hear this stuff peak matched. I'll match it up. I like to know much I'm really getting. Thx for posting these.

Re: Vibe Devices Across Your Whole Mix
It's real easy to peak match visually if you load it in your DAW. The volume differences are pretty extreme when I did that though, and could distract from the subtle flavor differences. The cinemag in particular was able to peak limit very transparently.
Re: Vibe Devices Across Your Whole Mix
Dude, if you get me to sell a foot to buy one of these... I don't know, you've got to carve me a peg leg or something.

Re: Vibe Devices Across Your Whole Mix
Hell, for the price if a foot , you could get at least 8 of these suckers! Seems a reasonable trade off to me
Re: Vibe Devices Across Your Whole Mix
So like 4 stereo pairs? Pritty close to a deal on this one.
Re: Vibe Devices Across Your Whole Mix
I use the slate VCC for all channels. Leave it mostly untouched on each channel. Its very subtle, but when you a/b a track with them all on vs off you just cant leave them off! They sound so good! I also use Slate VBC sometimes on the master 2buss, typically with the 'grey' ssl clone. Amazing sound. Adds warmpth and thump to most mixes.
Re: Vibe Devices Across Your Whole Mix
Dude, VBC is amazing. I've contacted slate and begged them to do away with the dongle. I begged like a bitch. Hehe.
Re: Vibe Devices Across Your Whole Mix
Well, I can see why they are doing it. Its pretty much the only un-cracked method of anti-piracy that exists, apart from DSP stuff like UAD.

This color box is a beast on master bus in parallel. Here's a quick beat I put together in a few minutes, first dry then a 50-50 blend of the dry and the color module, using both the cinemag and TM79 modes at the same time. Its some pretty hairy vibe!

Alright you cunty vst whores, show me a vst distortion that sounds as good as that.
And that is not vibe, that is distortion!
Really nice distortion!

Re: Vibe Devices Across Your Whole Mix
haha, yeah, this is definitely smashed to oblivion! It can do subtle, but when you crank the knobs it just puts a ridiculous smile on my face
It can do the Muslimgauze thing really really well
