Sorry bro. I respect your responses. Didn't mean to come across like that.nowaysj wrote:Just in general, your response is troublesome. I think you are getting a lot of resistance with this idea and thread, but it is not really coming from me. I would just like you to consider what I said, nothing more.GV1 wrote:So you want everyone to have the same morals because they don't fit with yours?nowaysj wrote:profound moral correction.
At a certain base level people need morals of life preservation.
It is obvious that a change is needed. But changing the wrong thing will not correct the larger situation. I do think changing governments right now could be beneficial if it slowed the advancement of the total control state. But, in my estimation, any movement that legitimately threatened actual change would be used to accelerate the total control state. A kind of catch 22, the more you struggle, the tighter the grasp.GV1 wrote:What's self destructive about wanting to make a change?
Oh, there is a profound problem, an extinction level problem. My solution is what I stated, a profound moral correction - a realization that self interest is self detrimental.GV1 wrote:Please enlighten me ... what's your solution? Or do you believe that there is no problem?

Would you say you're against the violation of people's own private life?

^I only came in here to say "I'd think about aborting this Operation UK Takeover if I were you" and it was gonna be hilarious and you have pretty much single-handedly ruined that for me.

Considering even the queen is ruffled about Scotland's independence vote shows it might actually change something, for good or worsejesslem wrote:Good luck.

Re: Operation UK Takeover .... must see
I think the biggest single denominator of why people would vote for independence is that the UK government is full of wankers. Someone did point out elsewhere that doesn't necessarily mean a Scottish parliament will be devoid of them though

Obviously enough people don't think that things are bad enough to warrant a revolution
Here in Oz, we're getting miserly protests of 5000 against a government budget that will deliberately make the poor poorer
I suspect that in Britain & Australia it would be too late by the time people got active & collective
whereas in France & the US, for example, revolution is seen as a little less uncouth.
GV1, at risk of sounding patronizing or facetious,
may I suggest, if you want to have an actual, personal influence on society
that you concentrate on a more localized or focused cause like improving prison conditions
or researching and disseminating information about corruption.
If we all become better informed and more involved in issues
we may avoid the inevitable suffering entailed in revolution
and bring about peaceful, sustainable evolution.

I think he is suggesting large scale peaceful civil disobedience as a catalyst to peaceful, sustainable evolution.

o well
sorry GBH
if that's the case, good on ya
but a little specific activism wouldn't go astray.
