On the other hand, it sounds quite pointless, cringy and edgy for the sake of being edgy

Not controversial for me but I see no appeal to the game myself, the same as I get no enjoyment from the likes of hostel, the saws...

First Saw ain't bad actually. Dude obviously liked Seven a bit too much but it's got a few nice ideas. Sequels are utter crap though

Wouldn't be surprised if it gets refused a rating in Europe and it definitely will be in Australia

I watched the video. The violence didn't seem that shocking compared to other stuff I've seen recently, tbh and the actual gameplay looks rubbish.
I have a feeling we won't ever hear of this game again.

I remember seeing people complaining about Call Of Duty a while ago because there was a bit where you shot civilians in an airport, wimps.

cant be worse than that right
There's been a video game made for almost every headline tragedy going... I remember similar outrage when Postal came out in the mid 90s, which pretty much had the same angle as this game, didn't it?
i posted an interview with the guy in the fedora thread. said the exact same thing, that this isn't worse than postal
but like it was mentioned before, it was definitely not to be taken seriously - like you'd go beat people w/ a dildo iirc
this one seems to take itself a bit seriously, which is what i find a bit disturbing.
it's kinda like some shitty tongue in cheek 70s gore movie vs something like a serbian film
the dude also said in the interview that this is a game for people to blow off steam to. i get that, but if your first impulse after a shitty day is to log into some game and go on mass murder, i think there might be something wrong there idk. it seems a bit columbine-y. not saying that it'll turn frustrated teens into mass murderers, just that the idea is a bit too dark.

its not the senseless violence that's offensive, it's how hard it tries to be edgy

Only controversial cause it looks fucking shit. I don't think its that bad that its mindless killing, surely whats worse is a weird type of stalker/torture game? Pointlessly running round shooting and stabbing people is nothing nowadays, kill a handful of people and you get the idea. No way you'll be playing that for a few hours and still act shocked or disturbed by the graphics/killing.. which seem to be its only appeal, not really an appeal to me.
Manhunt was good though.

Not that bad imo, don't get the problem.
Did have to watch that without sound though.
