it was actually the only major domestic german newspaper (it's a newspaper written in german located and published in a country with a german-speaking majority) who dared speak up against Hitler and publicly criticise and denounce his actions. they're liberals, but unfortunately too closely related to the banks.
arguably still one of the best german (language) newspaper you can get today though.
