Depends where I draw the line, for me its DJ Abstract - "Touch" on Tempa Allstars 1 - bought the Dubplate for a quid on sight along with Skull Disco 001 & Alter Ego - Rocker (Plasticman Remix). I Don't think Selectadisc knew much about Dubstep back then
Tune made me feel broken, in a good way! Burial gave me the virus though

edit - actually it would have been Red by Artwork
Yeah, I got this on vinyl, probably about when it came out. I remember hearing the terms dark garage and breakstep in relation to some of that stuff.

my first proper introduction to dubstep was at glade festival, which probably explains why I can't for the life of me remember what tunes..first I actively found and listened to was probably dmz 008: ancient memories

Depends what you'd class as Dubstep because i'd say some of the UK Garage bits produced between 99-2002 were very Dubsteppy.
First tune that got me into it was probably an Oris Jay production. However, i used to class that as UK Garage. As for 'Dubstep', it was DMZ001 and Loefah - 'Bombay Squad' that really grabbed my attention. Hold tight Youngsta and all the Blackmarket massive! LOL.
I just realised, Loefah single handedly got me into this sound. Big you up fella!
*wishes he never sold DMZ001!*

Whatever side I played first on the Rephlex Grime 2 comp. I forget which, but I bought the record based on that one track. Think it would have been Kode9 - Swarm.

Earth A Run Red is mine.
Aaron Fletcher from psych/folk band The Bees got sent the promos and was selling them at some party.I was carping on about some stuff id heard by KId606 and he gave me the promo there and then. Said to check it out, it didn't make much sense at first, then I turned it up really loud and hit 45 and that was it.
Big up Fletch and the Bees every time, thoroughly bloody nice bloke. His random act of kindness sent me off on a wicked trip called Dubstep.
