it's def the retardeddd bass!! so i guess any other type of music that can incorporate that (dnb, drrty south tunes kinda stuff, ghetto rap). so fun!!

it is the bass that attracts.

being old enough, i´ve playd in all sorts: guitar in an industrial band, guitar and turntables experimental noise to moody cinematic stuff, a band i´ve been in for 10years, but it´s session based, downtempo hip-hop...


scratching is what really brought it to me though. not that there is much of it in what i´ve heard, but heads made similar sounding doubleitime beats late nineties early 2000. with lesser production value (hey,they were just scratch beats)

i´m still drawn to the darkside, even though i love reggae, i do like the darker/harsher electronic dubstep more than the rootsy cuts.




i still listen to all kinds and lot of it, never been one to be fixed on a genre.
odd things happened... i started listening to deathmetal,trash and public enemy fairly young, right after that faded from punk to sonic youth. locals introduced me to kraut rock and experimental stuff, then i discovered jazz. that opened my mind to a lot of things;hip-hop, afrobeat,prog rock,jungle...

how does that relate?


i really don´t know, but it was a downward spiral since i heard godflesh love and hate in dub in 97.

got to have that lowend. no matter what type of stuff. got to have it.


what i´d want to hear more?
quality scratching.

bit of DnB (these days, mostly fanu, and a bit of offshore) dead can dance, the doors, aesop rock, boards of canada, amon tobin, bit of dj signify....

mostly the dead can dance, with their atmospheric tunes, affects how i relate to, produce, and perceive dubstep.

I liked it's sound, it just sound simple and different. Although I have to say to much Dubstep is a bit like sex without the orgasm.
