i think some software still 'renders' or 'bounces' audio in real time
so five minute tune = 5 mins of sitting around... hence the thread

my software bounces audio instantly though so i can't contribute to the list of activities

Oh right. In that case i listen to the track as it's recording to a stereo file for mastering. Why the fuck would you not litsen to it as it's rolling down to stereo? Crazy people. :|
