Isn't it about time BBC 1Xtra got a dubstep show?
The bbc have got it so wrong with 1xtra....... The politics and scheduling are nonsence. To think that your licence fee goes on paying 50cent more royalties is nothing short of outrageous and makes the bbc complicit in the ever approaching consumer crash that will end in anarchy....
These extra digital channels are essential community radio and should mainly represent what happens in the UK. It is also an excellent medium for exporting what we do so well.
Playlisting the big US artists is a pisstake...... not having a dubstep just shows their ignorance .....
take 5 to complain - honestly it is worth it .

can anyone elaborate on this rumour of them shutting down ?

If Drum and Bass is "black music" in their opinion, then surely dubstep is too, what with the dub ethos behind some of the production.
In truth though, the black music tag used to belong to stuff like reggae, now it's used for anything descended from or influenced from original forms of black music, so it's come to mean next to nothing.

Where's Schoolly D when you need him?

Also, in line with the branding of 1xtra as "new black music", I feel they should have rebranded radio 2 as "old white music". Just for the sake of consistancy.

[quote="Wil Blaze"]1xtras schedule has pretty much gone to shit over the past year or two...
good dj's that aren't on there any more:
flight
l double
excalibre
skitz
the list goes on...

Dont really check it that often although I got a DAB in the car - too much shite RnB and hip pop durin the day..
Didnt know Excalibre and Skitz had gone though and yes they do need more Dubstep.

why? breezeblock became a dubstep show ...look at every playlist...half of this show is pure dubstep and when you look few years back the breezeblock was very variable but not now. Then you have shitloads of streaming radios, pirate stations (rinse is becomes mainly dubstep station) and youre complaining that radio 1 is ignoring dubstep. wtf you want? the hype about it is too heavy enoughIsn't it about time BBC 1Xtra got a dubstep show?

I think was called "hot from the press" and another one called "under the counter" for new releases. Was listening to an old J Da show in my car the other day after finding it amongst the enormous stack of CDRs in the glove box, only to discover Ghost by Vex'd in the public "Send in yer Dubs" competition section (whatever it was called)!

Yeah, I know I can hear dubstep in lots of places, but I want this music to be out there introduced to people who may not have heard it.wtf you want? the hype about it is too heavy enough
You know how it goes, don't believe the hype and all that shit. The hype factor is irrelevant. This music should be represented.
Anyway, I put my complaint into the BBC some days back. I'll post the response when I get one.
@Mary Anne Hobbs, if you're reading this, do you have any idea why the BBC are ignoring dubstep?
