Have you considered that some people would be more than enthused to share there tips if it meant that someone could do something completely fresh with that new knowledge, and thus push the genre forward?
Some of the producers on DOA have been very generous with regards to sharing their advice.

...if that is their motivation, then they will do it regardless, maybe just not as tightly.
