it started off as like little bug bites that hurt so i thought i had a flea or mite infestation. then after a few months they started forming bubbles in clusters here and there and then the clusters started forming big bubbles. big yellow bubbles full of mucousy grossness. it was mostly on the insides of my forearms at first. i was waiting tables at TGIFridays and was being real careful about not letting anybody see my forearms. eventually it spread to my face and i just quit showing up for work. i also was in school too and quit showing up for classes. i still thought i had a bug infestation at this point, so i'm putting all these pesticides all over my home and i'm bathing in this nit killing stuff, and taking long, hot baths and showers, and its all making the skin condition worse. like 70% of my whole body was covered in these huge blisters that would burst and weep. i had to change shirts several times a day because the fluid would soak through and dry and they'd get real crusty and nasty. the neck and armpits got extra bad because i kept aggravating it with shirts. i still thought it was bugs. also no insurance so i wouldn't go to the doctor. then after a while my circulation in my legs started to go out. i would have to stand up periodically and pound on my leg to get circulation to it. nobody knew what kind of condition i was in. i hid it until i couldn't hide it and then i just quit leaving the house. i looked like freddy kreuger. so i finally told my mom on the phone how bad i'd gotten and she flipped out and told me to drive to the student health center at the university i was enrolled in and have a freakin doctor look at me. so i go and the doctor freaks out like wtf i have never seen shit like this before and he sets up an emergency appointment with a dermatologist across town. so i go there and they all freak out and the whole office staff comes in to look at me sitting there. they took a biopsy and gave me some prednisone and some other kind of steroid pill and it turned out that it was an autoimmune disorder called bullous pemphigoid. the drugs cleared the symptoms right up. they have no idea what caused it or if it will be with me for the rest of my life or what or what. its super rare and only happens to senior citizens if ever.

its mostly gone now but i get symptoms here and there still and its been over 5 years and i've had to pop prednisone because it flared up pretty bad as recently as 2 years ago. sometimes my hands feel like they are on fire.
