It's not just the sounds. It's the fact that along with the sounds, it works as a MIDI/CV convertor, letting you sync up the SH-101, MC-303, 909, Jupiter, Moog... etc, whatever other vintage synths you might want.
And BassStations go for about £150 these days, not much difference.
