Basically, read the manuals for your equipment, experiment with it, google for tutorials if that sort of thing helps you, and maybe look in one of the many 'beginners' threads already on this forum to find a link to a basic 'understanding synthesis' type article.aggle ale wrote:this wasnt the type of help i was after at all, all this do it for self dont follow a trend yes we all know this
i wanted more advice on the technical side of things like with synths and oscillating
But until you've learnt a bit more and come across some more specific questions, all you're asking for is for people on this forum to waste a lot of time telling you a load of really basic general stuff that you could find out just as easily by the above methods.

there are probably a thousand threads on this forum alone that discuss what you need to learn. use the "search" function to shift through topics. you can't make a thread called "teach me how to produce" and expect us to fill it with knowledge. you have to read and try shit out for yourself. the amount of time you spend reading, trying and experimenting will directly affect your creative output.
now stop reading what i'm writing and get to searching! also i can suggest DOA's production forum, i believe it's called "the grid" - it contains a wealth of knowledge and sample packs. there's a lot of bullshit to sift through but there's a lot of important information as well.
good luck, good reading and most of all have fun.

if you are an american, make sure you only make boring, 1/2 step beats and sample "scary" movies. denounce jungle and call yourself a pioneer.
wow!

you guys think to much about this scene shit. ,the scene wil always get boring if you make it. ive been involved with electronic music for 16 years and i dont se myself ever getting sick of any of it. well i was never ito happy hardcore or cheese house , or cheese gabber or girly drum and bass. but the styles i do like are with me forever , no scene involved just music to my ears.
it would be nice to see dubstep take in more elements of rastafarii...
and couple than in with universal consciousness. !!
to answer your question buddy, just keep fucking with your software.. dubstep is around 140 bpm but you can try al types of things..
try this . layer like 50 or 6 synths set different seettings in them map them to your keyboard, then every key zone wiill trigger different lfo's and distortions shit sounds crazy ..
also try to get the best drum kits and sounds you can , its very important.. my suggestion get soulseek..
and download all the e-lab samples. !!
peace.

And be prepared not to be instantly liked, bigged up or even played out. Anything that sounds different tends to not be praised straight away because it's not 'scene' enough.
But keep pushing where you want, and you'll be reaching the heady heights of 5 or 6 downloads a week. You'll get yourself out there in the end. Or not. Just do what you do, regardless of other people. People suck. Scenes really suck.
This is good though, as it sorts out those who want to make music for themselves vs those who need other people for validation and to feel part of scene.
When I start out writing something dubsteppy, it winds up being more in the vein of a lesser talented Milanese mixed with a weird hint of electro. It's cool, I just need to read more, work harder. I just ended a four year relationship, so I should have no excuse now. Might be the best thing that ever happened to my production work.
