damn and i thought i was nerdy bringin' up the philtre! out to the paia heads-- i've built mic jacks and fixed circuit boards, but this is clearly your time. post up and let us know how it goes.
i think the philtre is a great bit of kit--it's noisy, it's ugly, and it can build in depth in 45 seconds that would take me 30 minutes in software. so many folks jump on gearslutz and are convinced they need a $2000 mic pre before they can start using hardware... sure it'll make things nicer but fuck it, you need to build vibes for a dancefloor!!!
i know plenty of folks who have shit linked up to weird guitar pedals, shitty mics, busted speakers-- find what makes a sound like nothing else for you and go for it.

I have a bunch of percussion...
- pair of congas
- bongo
- djembe
- set of 3 frame drums
- various small shakers, claves, sticks, maracas etc
- a few other random drums
Also have a Wurlitzer electric piano.
Unfortunately this is all packed away on the other side of the planet... I'm living in Europe for the time being, so running a minimal laptop setup!

guitar pedals are subject to stupid amounts of snobbery!
for the money a decent set of multi effects pedals will cost you they kick shite out the equivalently priced 'pro studio' models
(for the budget lovers, eg a behringer delay pedal is £17 new!)
also think of the routing and chaining options with guitar pedals

This weird thing is called a microphone. It captures sounds and prevents you from asking for samples on forums...

that shit is all the way crucial. anybody got monomes? i've always wanted one.

tl;dr it's a giant pad of typically 64 freely assignable buttons. sicker than all hell.. don't pass up the video, it's gold from the start.
those are sweet from what i've seen. I want to snag one of those to experiment on. Flying Lotus just acquired one, that sneaky bastard.

ya bastard! i have that mic but it is broken. finally sorted phantom power and XLR leads out after months of not using it, and i find out the fucking mic doesn't work any more
anyone know if there is any money in broken NT1A's or if it is worth paying to get repaired? i was thinking of putting it on ebay, sold as seen (pretend i don't know its broken) but i'd feel guilty - whoever bought it would be a music maker and i don't want that playing on my conscience.
what would you all do?

Big up the mackies!
Tried these v.s. the rokkits and the mackies won hands down. went for the 6 inch version in the end...
And yeh. The piano finish is sex.

picked this joint up today for 3 bucks. it plays cassettes and you can scream over the shit with the mics. very dope. so far the only thing i've done is added a knob to control the speed the tape plays at. it's cranking out some serious creep shit, since the only cassette i have is opera. i had big willie style, but can't seem to find it anymore.
