Fucking great producer, but I don't agree with the headfones shizzle... I reckon best time for burial is either in the car driving at night/rain, or just on the stezza at home when your kickin back thinking about shit..

In my more melancholic moments, yeah i suppose i do. It's not optimistic or uplifting music. It's kind of like drinking when you're depressed or angry. It wont make things better but it'll help pass the time and give you that poor me and my broken arse vibe. I prefer to drink to celebrate so more than anything i like music that uplifts, unless i just want some nice, ambient, inoffensive, mindless drone in the background that won't distract me from doing something i have my mind set on.

I dont want to join the rest of the haters, but coming from a background where ive been making music for the last 16 years, all this ass sucking with burial is crazy!!!

His beats aint all that,some ov the idea's are ok,but they aint placed perfectly,every1 says his melodys,his melodys, has any1 heard of silkie,reso,henyg,quest,martyn,rusko etc????

Just coz he has a weird sound, every1 thinks this cat is good

He's quite shit if u ask me and i couldnt give to packs of walkers if he has the world ov press,sold crazy amounts of albums and no1 has seen him b4.

I think Burial has his audience, but the fact that everyone has suddenly started wanking the guy off is a bit pathetic.

I think it can be athmospheric, but I also kinda find it difficult to distinguish between different tracks. I recognise his SOUND but not his tracks.

I think people like to latch on to the 'new sound' element, without realising that his sound might not necisarrily be 'new'. I don't mind that it's boosting dubstep's profile, but I worry that people class it as dubstep. I've never seen it as 'dubstep' but more experimental, or possibly 'IDM' - although genres are another much-debated subject.

Also, this whole unknown talent and not DJing stuff: how much is a promo-stunt that people love, and how much is actually justified. People can push forward their point without being completely invisible.

He also seems to have this unspoken demand for respect, and this sort of wanky aloofness that only comes from being the new kid on the block.

I don't mind his album, but I don't feel the need to get all hot and bothered about how incredible it might be.

Im of the opinion that everyone saying burial isnt the greatest thing ever will slowly be converted to the cause

I didnt care too much for burial when I first heard it either. In fact, I still wasnt fully convinced by the first album by the time untrue came out. I got that on CD, and after a few listens it had me completely hooked. So I went back and re-listened to the first album again, and hey presto I cant get enough of it either!

But again, I guess it could just be not what youre looking for! Of course hes not gonna be for everyone, nothing is. But I personally havent felt music as much since dark side of the moon...

Edit: And @ alex, I think burial is SO much closer to what could be defined (sorry to use that word) as dubstep than alot of music named so! Consider the fact that dubstep came out of uk garage, centralized to an urban setting such as London. Then listen to the syncopated swing in his beats, the atmosphere of the pieces (someone even said that it specifically makes them think of a city!) and to a lesser extent the bpm, and to be honest id almost go as far as to say that burial is a flagship example of dubstep!

You have a very valid point, although most genres are described by the music they contain, and because Burial doesn't sound much like alot of the other 'dubstep' artists in the genre, he is deemed not to be part of it, whether or not he should techcnically, or theoretically be a flagship example.

Something what really summed Burial up for me was an interview I read a few months ago with him. He was talking about him having an older brother who used to go out to all the raves in the 90's and because he was too young he couldnt go to any.

He said his albums were a tribute to times he had never experienced. Thats what really hit home for me, I was far too young to be clubbing in the 90's and he does seem to nail this "imagination of the 90s" even though he never experienced them.

Its one thing I have been gutted about since getting into (any form of) dance music; missing the 90s, and his albums just seems to have the same feelings I have regarding times I'll never experience.

Sorry for the rant, just thought I'd lay down why (IMO) Burial really has brought something new(& old) to the 00's

Who 'deems' that burial is not 'dubstep'? Your last sentence doesn't seem to make any sense to me.
