It's true, I started off with Drum & Bass. Dubstep came fluently to me once I started mixing it. The faster the easier.CRYPTIC wrote:Very wise - The faster it is - The easier it is to mix. I recommend learning faster muisc first.HabitualBeatsCamp wrote:I learned how to mix by playing UK Hardcore...

That just comes with practice man, and knowing your records - ie, what sounds are coming from which record.sonar wrote:ive just started playing around with mixing, i can match things that are the same bpm fine but as soon as they are different i find it soo damn hard to know which one is slower/faster than the other, then matching the bpms pfft. beyond me lol.

Swear there was a topic about this ages ago!airhead wrote:anyone know a cure for a 'sloppy hole' - where the centre hole of the record has become too big and makes the record slide about as you cue it?
Someone said Rizla was the best solution they came up with, without using something to expensive.

Take a small sticker (like from a blank tape or label of some sort), cut it down to about 1/8 inch by 1 inch or so... slide it in, bend it so it sticks to each side of the record. Repeat on other side of hole if still slipping.airhead wrote:anyone know a cure for a 'sloppy hole' - where the centre hole of the record has become too big and makes the record slide about as you cue it?
Or just ask her to clean it...

Lol. I had to do this with my Serato records, i use selotape cut into small squares just so it covers the hole then get a balloint pen and poke it through the other side, then fold down the bits what poked though, repeat if ness.kidlogic wrote:Take a small sticker (like from a blank tape or label of some sort), cut it down to about 1/8 inch by 1 inch or so... slide it in, bend it so it sticks to each side of the record. i find that the "tight hole" tends to be more of a problem for me.
who would have thought, right?
damn 45's and their imperfections!
i guess thats what makes them great though.
i actually keep a little knife right next to my decks because i found myself heading to the kitchen so often after picking up some new tunes.
one quick light twist of the knife will loosen that hole right up.
i hope we're still talking about records.
