Go and check some old school gear - its the sme thing really just a bit rawer. Check some Ray Keith - it blows breakage clean out the water. No hating on the new dnb producers but I think they are overated a bit. Seems like peeps are a bit desperate to find some new leftfield heroes
To some extent this is true, but some of his production is, in my opinion, pushing things forward in his choppage, ive heard a lot of old school and his edits on Acid Rain or Trance still fucking cane it. And structurally his Out of Reach / Who What Where 12" brings some very very fresh styles. But the reason I love breakage is mainly because of his atmospheres - the sense of sorrow in his music makes it stand out a mile to me. When heard in a club, for me it changes what jungle makes me feel... rather than making me bruk out, it seems rather to meditatively envelop...the drums are primarily just an overwhelming wall of sound over which the melody dances and evokes. In a strange sense its comparable to some dubstep except the space created by minimal percussion is replaced by a complete, engulfing wall, but having a very similar effect on the role played by the other elements.

So while technically it might be said he isnt pushing the envelope in particular, in a subtle sense he does seem to be to me, and regardless he just writes very beautiful, evocative music.

For me, in terms of the most boundary breaking dnb, cant test Martsman and Sileni at the moment, their tunes are too much: "itch-step"!!!

Very true.

I assume u have heard his set @ Breezeblock Januari 06. The first tune he plays is very similar to Dubstep. Big beat, big tune.

Indeed very refreshing, big up Amit!

Wouldn't surprise me if we hear something from him at a dubstep tempo. Klute is well known to be feelin the sound, been seen at FWD>> and so on... I'm sure someone was saying the same was true of Amit, but I might have made it up...

I suspect they're feeling the sound, but will more than likely incorporate the skewed dynamics into their dnb rather than do dubstep itself. Might be wrong tho, but would make sense to do this rather than jump on a different train entirely.

Yeah, I'd be very surprised if either of them suddenly jumped on the bandwagon, so to speak. But Klute seems to like making his own thing outside dnb, so I wouldn't be surprised to hear the odd tune or two...

ps - i'm that mate of Luke's from Switzerland who you met at last DMZ. Ez...

Not heard the guy before, starting to wish I'd gone to that night a few weeks ago down here. Shizzle, he's really good. I too have been quite bored with dnb for this century so far, so am really impressed.
Hmm....

I'm amazed at how much space there is in his tracks.

Very refreshing to hear something like this.

Makes me wonder why I ignored him for so long !

I can't help but notice the similarities between Amit's production style and dubstep.

Amit making dubstep would be sick !

What do you think ?

Any other dnb producers who have a similar style ?

Amit was way ahead of his time i think. dnb was going thru a very bad period of clownstep and angry headbanging shite around the mid 2000s and his sound was always a welcome departure from that. i remember MK Ultra and Gatecrasher just obliterating dancefloors
