My guess is that the same names who appeared in this thread would also appear in that thread.

Unless your making some dubstepforum quantum leap philosophically to saying that progression isnt linear, and that there IS no forwards and backwards...I think youre wrong

My point is that people use whatever chance they can to hype up certain artists, regardless of context. A similar concept goes for expressing dislike for certain artists. Ultimately, the artists involved in both these concepts are bound to coincide.

Mala, Geiom, Skream, Distance, Pinch, Peverelist, Cyrus, Coki, Goth trad, Benga, Darkstar to name a few, it's hard because everyone has their own style, I'm sure I'll think of some more later and add them

Ooooh, I see where youre coming from (If I get you rightly, that its not so clear cut as to who is innovating/imitating?) as there will be tunes, released or not, by 90% of artists out there who are considered to be "forward thinkers" that are formulaic bits of tosh. However, I think with the vast majority of names mentioned so far, they do produce enough interesting bits for their not-so interesting bits to be pushed into the background a bit (coki could be a good example? Possibly one of the biggest innovators the scenes ever seen, who at the same time will happily invent a new bass sound, then proceed to create countless numbers of variations on the theme!)

However, there are of course plenty of true innovators in this scene (most of which will have been mentioned in this thread) but may be scarcer than thought. <-- Of course coki included btw, I think theres a definite difference between repetition, and having your own sound...but im not sure what that is right now!

Im thinking out loud here. Feel free to tell me to shut it

Reading this remind me of the Rinse show that Chef did where he talked about the fact that there is a lot of shit coming out and that there are like double the amount of shit producers there are then good producers.

However, in a sense, it what you find good that's the main thing.

I'm liking all the people taking it to techo ish type things, not that i like to call it that. 2562, Pev, forensix (MCR) - Wheres the next release?, Sines, TRG and Flippo.

There are alot of great tracks coming out, but not many artists who have constant releases i really like.
