Top film from one of the best english directors around, very similar style to Dead Mans Shoes, which is also a favourite of mine from Meadows.

From reading this thread I got the idea that nobody realised that 'This is England' was actually on TV an hour after the thread was started. It was on Film 4 at 9pm.
I only say this because nobody who was posting on the thread appeared as though they were watching it while this thread was being posted on.
Did anybody know it was actually on at the same time as everybody was posting in this thread?

I dunno about raves, I was 10 or 11 at the time...but I remember it was fucking bandit country for a while, the bangladeshi kids and the white kids used to have running battles in the streets, round the estates up hampstead road and along the back of Euston station. The police took notice when a couple of white kids got stabbed, one of them was jumped on by The Sun in their usual reactionary sort of shite; Richard something I think?
All calmed down ages ago though.
Definitely going to go and see it but if it's about Somers Town now I assume it's going to be about fucking medical students
found the guy, his name was Richard Everitt:

'running battles in the streets' may be overstating things a little

ach its alright, good soundtrack and a good subject to cover in a film, think shane meadows has better films out there though.
A room for romeo brass is pretty dark, as is dead mans shoes.
Once upon a time in the midlands is meant to be fucking brutal, ive not seen it myself though.
