Good effort but not a patch on the orig imo. I cannot find much of a groove and in places there is too much going on.

I will pass this link onto Mark Archer for him to have a listen:)

tbh I dont think there is much any1 could do to improve on the orig for me so dont take it bad:)

I have played the orig so many times so hearing anything differernt is hard:)

Yup - all hand-coded, CSS/XHTML.

They're Photoshop - mix of layer styles and effects mostly. I spent alot of time back in Uni learning Photoshop, and although I use Fireworks for most design stuff now (better for web design) I still use Photoshop for some of the nicer illustrative elements, and Illustrator if it's going to be scaled up at all.

i obviously don't get dubstep at all then - this sounded far weaker than the original version - it sounded like a drum track played over some samples that are way too low in the mix......

I guess it might be well worth re-visiting, although I'm not sure I can better the original! Me, the lowly bedroom producer having nearly completed his first EP, trying to re-work a classic track from what many consider to be a ledgendary production duo! Maybe I'll just let it go, and concentrate on the original stuff!!

Don't get me wrong, i'm all for adding familiarity to a tune by using a slice of a well known track, i mean - thats what we did back then with a few of our tracks, but it just didn't seem to have the power or urgency of the original (which was produced in a bedroom by myself on some very lo-tech gear...)

That's cool. I think I got caught up taking the track in a strange direction. Possibly trying to add too much, where it wasn't required.

Couldn't ask for more than feedback from the original artist tho! Thanks again!

I dont have much of a clue about production really but I dj quite a bit so will give my opinion on how it sounds.

Strip some bits out cos it sounds like there is too much going on and nothing stands out as it is. Play around with the drums a bit and try get a better groove going. Try get a build up and then a drop that realy stands out and has a big impact.

Dubstep doesnt really have the same punch as Techno/Breakbeat so this tune may appeal to most Dubstep artists. You are prob just better off doing what you think sounds good imo:)
