Not really dubstep but if you like the dark, lonely urban soundscapes of Burial you might like this guy called Tor Lundvall. His album 'Empty City' has a very similar vibe to Burial.

Apart from that, I'd second the Scorn recommendation. Maybe stuff like Pan Sonic and Mika Vainio's solo work might be up your street too.

YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO THAT. pretty much the darkest stuff out there.
Good album, although I'd have to admit it dragging on a bit. I'm all in favour of massive, dark sounding crashes, and Mike's Napalm Death background is, I think, quite a good influence on his work...but I have trouble telling one song off of the album apart from the next.

Shackleton - The Rope Tightens 12" - Skull Disco (The B-Side - Shortwave fits the vibe)
Plus i whole heartedly second the Ben Frost submission - REQUIRED LISTENING!

Since we are now dipping into some older electronic dub recommendation, I'll also suggest some of the old Cloak and Dagger stuff. There is a lot of stuff that is more dance music oriented, but they sure have some good dark dub gems.
Also, my listen to some out on wordsound as well.

Forgot about Bill Laswell. Definitely look into his back catalogue. Coil and Current 93 are worth a listen too though they might fall more towards the experimental end of the spectrum.

amazing record. bits of it sound like someone pushing filing cabinets down a lift shaft, but it sucks you right in from start to finish
