done some research it turns out that pro tools is a glitchy piece of shit on mac osx 10.5 :| :( same problem as me :cry: :cry:

I'm running the newest version of protools on a new iMac using 10.5. It works. It's not 100%, I get frequent CPU and buffer size related freezes regardless of how many tracks/plug-ins are running and what the buffer size is set at.

Ah right, I see. I stuck all the logic samples & instruments on an external HD to avoid clogging up the main internal HD. Follow the advice that's been given on this thread and you should have many happy trouble-free years of mac! ;)

pro tools sucks. you should have no problem using that mbp for audio. I used a 1.3 Ghz powerbook G4 for years as my main audio computer. it was pretty slow, but i was able to make decent tunes with it. the trick is keeping it as empty as possible.
