big up moldy!
Due to an issue with the metalwork at the plant, each copy has an identical 3cm long audible gouge on the Numbers Dub side, and the Cod & Chips side sounds warped even though the plate doesn't look warped. The artwork was also applied to the wrong sides of the vinyl. I imagine someone enjoyed an eye-opener consisting of a pint of gin before they started operating machinery that day.
Unfortunately the distributor placed this "finished" product in stores without my approval of a test pressing, which is in effect a breach of contract.
The distributor stated they would recall the defective product, followed by reprocessing and a new pressing. Despite months of countless followups, they have yet to make good on their word. I have been receiving emails from unhappy customers questioning the quality of the vinyl they just purchased. As it stands I do not recommend anyone buying the vinyl unless they have a penchant for wall ornaments.
The last straw was when a Google search revealed that a recording of the defective vinyl is being pirated on torrent trackers.
All of this prompted me to issue a digital single in pristine quality. In turn I gain more control over the process, and those who would go to great lengths to acquire it in digital format now have the option of supporting the label and the artist.
I hope you all enjoy it in this format.
Stay tuned for the digital release of Numbers Dub, among other things...
Thank you very much for your support.
did this blue artwork version make it to stores ever? trying to track down a copy on discogs?moldy wrote:Just the latest update on the vinyl release - the distributor is working to reissue the vinyl. I have supplied them with revised artwork for the reissue. The artwork will be blue instead of green. This way people can differentiate between the first pressing (defective) and second pressing (hopefully of proper quality). It will probably take a while. So steer clear of the vinyl with green artwork, and wait for the vinyl with the blue artwork.
Thanks for your patience.
I hope you all enjoy the digital single in the meantime.
