I got lucky and got a pair of Techs for $400 usd.. only after battling a pair of Gemini's for 7 months. However, the Gems were a kick down, and learning to match on those was like learning to swim with weights on... only really helped me once I got the techs.. so with that said, get Technics and dont mess with the kids toys... unless they are kicked down, you'd only be wasting money on them in the end, because you will want to upgrade sooner than you think.

I went right for the technics when I started, although I played on shitty mixers for 7 years, and finally got a djm pioneer mixer a couple years a ago, which I love. But I say get a cheap mixer if you are starting, cause you probably won't be playing out for years anyway, unless you are some kind of genius of djing. Serato's great, I got it, but I also have about 2000 records sitting in my basement too, so I can say I like vinyl as well
But the digital is Saving me tons of $$$ in the long run. I buy WAV's not MP3's too, so the quality is better..... So waaaaa!!!! Also, Serato isn't the only option, and it's one of the more expensive dj softwares. Mixvibes is really top notch and way cheaper, If I could go back, I would probably get it instead of Serato, but I was just following what everyone else was doing.
