"Man walks into a bar
the cigarette machine suddenly hurls abuse at him..."wanker" "Twat" etc
he sits at the bar, there's a bowl of nuts on the bar, he hear's voices from the nuts saying, "you look great", you smell nice"
he asks the barman, wtf is going on here?
the barman replies; the cigarette machine is out of order and the peanuts are complimentary"
ba-dum-tish!

David beckham at training spies a team mate with a thermos flask, so he asks...
"whats that?"
team mate says, "its a thermos flask, it keeps your hot things hot and your cold things cold."
"cool, i'm gonna get one" he says
next day he's got his thermos flask, his team mate say, "hey, you got one, so what you storing in it?"
David Beckham replies "2 cups of coffee and an ice cream"

How dumb is this? My wallet has a magnet in it. It keeps the money clip closed. Now I have to replace my credit card and bank card... and the wallet. Shit the bed!spencerTron wrote:![]()
put yer laptop on a magnet and you are ruined. Without sounding obvious , This rule applies to alot of things, phones, tapes (audio/video) and even wallets because of cash card/credit card data getting wiped.

No, because the magnet you have is not quite the power of a 2k sound system or 18inch sub. unless your wallet is the size of a bank vault. In the same way the magnet in your TV speakers are not powerful enough to fuck the tube in your TV (yes we've moved on to LCD/plasma)...put any stronger magnet near the screen it goes purple...think about it. any alternating magnetic field strong enough can cause damage...it's about the strengh of the field. The strip in your cards is not too different to that thats found in reel tape, to have these tapes cleaned 'professionally' of noise/audio it has to be done...by powerful magnets.abZ wrote:How dumb is this? here's an idea, why not experiment, ya know, just to be sure?

I have a friend that worked in a car audio place and people would set subs up on the counter and the entire screen on his computer would go purple and they would be like "why is that happening"spencerTron wrote:No, because the magnet you have is not quite the power of a 2k sound system or 18inch sub. unless your wallet is the size of a bank vault. ah, i see...it seemed like you we're suggesting that the idea of data filled magnetic strips being wiped by magnetic forces was an absurd idea. clearly i was wrong.abZ wrote:I don't think you understand. I'm not saying is this going to happen to me? I am saying it did happen to me. My cards do not work. Experiment is over. Conclusion reached.
anyway...

As opposed to a friend of mine who worked in an outdoors shop where someone put a load of compasses over the demagnetizer that they use to deactivate anti-theft tags.phobang wrote: I have a friend that worked in a car audio place and people would set subs up on the counter and the entire screen on his computer would go purple and they would be like "why is that happening"

Actually, I was expecting the first post to just say "it'll make you go blind."
