I know Coil through Throbbing Gristle/Psychic TV stuff, like what I've heard, but don't know much about them

Any recommendations on where to start?

i listen to coil's "time machines" during meditation and sleep. it's become quintessential to the function of my life and my thinking. one of the best drone albums of all time.

love's secret domain and black antlers are fond albums. also particularly fond of moon's milk in four phases.

some of their music is really depressive :P , but still really good ambient heard by them/or whatever that "style" can be called, i love mostly tracks brought out after 90's before it is to weird for me/.
