Change is good. Adaptability is good. We're always trying new things on this forum, but contrary to what you keep insinuating, we're not counting cash in the backroom and buying champagne from this site.phobang wrote:Myspace is gaining users exponentially. They also have to make those changes because there is competition. There is no real competition for DSF(yet, but trust me... seeing the response here from the staff everytime someone has a problem is making it all clear to me that one is needed)seckle wrote:flashy looking websites and flashy web features don't make people communicate better. myspace and facebook are obsessed with trying to over-design each other into the 22nd century. we're focused on community and music. period.
we've never been a site to ram products down people's throat and try and sell everything possible to you. the ad you see uptop is to maintain the server costs.
Nobody said shit about flashy sites or features, more or less turning off the feature that won't let me use any of the installed themes, etc would be a great start.
Anyway, you've made your point. Never will dubstepforum invest in far superior software. I understand. Change is bad. Unless he's totally inexperienced, in which case you'll be all over it right?
Peace to this topic.
everyone involved in this place is involved in it for the love of the music.

DID SOMEONE OFFER TO BUY THIS SITE BASED ON SOME RANDOM SITE'S APPROXIMATION SOFTWARE? LULLLLLLLLLLZ
to be fair this site isnt worth much at all, even with a huge base behind it, users here are pretty net savvy and know what ads are and not to click them etc etc.
in the end fuck it, it's not about fucking money.

@ the thread starter...
...our (dubsteforum userbase) view of the High Yield market remains constructive. However, interest rates appear to be MUUUURDA! in a headwind. High yield has lower duration than most fixed income products, but it is being impacted, MUUUURDAAA! nevertheless. The current environment is negatively influenced by technicals more than fundamentals. We continue to see default rates decline which is MUUUURRRDA but benefited by an improving economy.
An approved person with MUUUURRRDAAA responsibility for a firm's compliance with TC ('A') failing to implement a system requiring A's prior approval before any other approved person ('B') within that firm carries out an activity within a MUUUUURDAA controlled function different to the activity that B carried out within that controlled function immediately prior to the proposed change
In the recent buying environment, the average High Yield company has been able to MUUURDA and dramatically repair their balance sheet, lowering the likelihood of defaults for the coming years. With declining default rates, BARE MURKAGE ON THE TOUGH SIDE!!! we believe the High Yield market still sells at an attractive yield spread premium relative to UK Treasury bonds. This will allow for further spread tightening for the high yield market. On asset allocation we continue to MUUUUUURDA!!! view the gilt market as relatively attractive and expect it to outperform UK Treasuries over the next 3 to 6 months. We believe the Bank of England has at most one more rate hike. Anecdotal evidence of a slowdown in housing prices will keep interest rates in check so we will maintain our neutral weight of 35% to Gilts

I wish you the best of luck on your new website then. Out to everyone trying to retire via the internet. Your time.phobang wrote:There is no real competition for DSF(yet, but trust me... seeing the response here from the staff everytime someone has a problem is making it all clear to me that one is needed)
and, its not a competition, because there's nothing to win. as someone said earlier, you can't put a price on community. thats the ethos.
in this age of social networking bombardment, i'd rather be involved in helping a group of people reach their musical dreams and spreading good music to the planet, than try and market or make money just to make money.
money corrupts just as much as it helps.
The way you are phrasing your statements shows the quality of your character, which is lacking obviously. Nobody said I was trying to retire from revenue of a website. You're not helping anyone reach any dream moderating this forum. Actually far from it. You're really pissing a lot of people off. I can't count the number of times I had heard what a dick someone thought you were before I signed up here. I figured benefit of the doubt and all.seckle wrote:I wish you the best of luck on your new website then. Out to everyone trying to retire via the internet. Your overuse of melodramatics is a bit waste, to be honest.
I posed a question to those who have no say in anything around here, meaning not you. You stepped in and said "none of your business" basically. Considering I always make it a point to use the DSF link for buying off of beatport, and the fact that I contribute mixes and commentary on music here, I would say my opinion should hold as much weight as any other person here.
AGAIN:
IF, AND ONLY IF, DUBSTEPFORUM MAKES 22 GRAND A YEAR IN REVENUE, WHAT SHOULD THEY DO WITH IT...
and this question is posed at everyone BUT Seckle or Ivan. I hope that clears it up for the ignorant and unable to read massive.

OP, you know, if a lot of us were in Dubstep for the money then I think back in 2005 we wouldn't have continued with it and moved onto the next genre and try and make a quick buck there.
Dedication and love over comes your business plan like a slap in the face.
And that is all I asked for. People instead focused on the "we don't make that much"Waefah wrote:There's quite a legitimate argument for transparency here!
I'll gladly entertain some proof that this site generates less than that, which should be interesting. Again, I might be totally wrong, but if in fact they make that much, it makes sense to make improvements..
including but not limited to, a new server, perhaps mix/tune hosting, etc... it makes sense to improve. I visited this site a long time ago before ever signing up and nothing has changed but the number of users.
