Or don't buy cod! There's plenty of alternatives. Everywhere I go, I make it a point to try the fish and chips... if it's on the menu, chances are I'll get it. I've got a complex rating system for it and all. I was thinking of making a documentary where I travel all over the world and rate all kinds of it. 
Solid choices are haddock and halibut, in my opinion. But being from Seattle I love a bit of salmon as well.
