Only a thought guys. I only threw one of my old tracks up because it was quicker than trying to take submissions from people.

If I needed mastering I'd pay for it standard.

Forget about the whole mixing/mastering wording confusion. I just think it would be a better show case of peoples talent if they take the parts and mix/master the whole thing down rather than processing the final track. Mostly because I've intentionally picked a bad track which would NEVER go to mastering without work on the parts.

Maybe if people want to submit tracks that would be a better way forward, at least that would shut up people thinking this is just about getting my track mastered.

Great idea. Looking forward to hearing the results.

I trust we will also get to chance to hear the original file before its been mastered/mixed etc?
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

The files are only 50mb or so. I'll get them prepared tonight and send them off to all who requested.

Most jobs that we get are stereo files not stems.I think this needs to be the case to make it a fair competition. Also how are you going to decide who wins?

I thought a vote would be good. I will take like 30 second cut and stick it next to the original so people can hear the original and final mastered version side by side?

IM thinking that might be the way forward because i'm not sure how many people want to get down with mixing/mastering 5/6 parts individually.

I suggest that if you are going to upload a 30 sec clip for people to vote on then the track should only be 30 secs long ,When you are mastering a tune you have to take into consideration how your actions are going to affect the whole track,What may sound good on the intro may sound wrong on the breakdown.

OK then I'll do a 1 minute clip , 30 seconds build up 30 seconds drop and that should cover it.

Nothing serious, just a show case of talent and an eye opener for everyone out there as to how much a good mix can make.

Rules are simple. You can do anything you like in terms of processing but you cannot modify/add/delete actual elements of the track.

I'm going to come up with a couple questions interview style for whoever wins, I think it would be great to understand what was going on and how they got to the finished product don't you think?
Ok, I will downlaod this and master it for you in the next hour. BRB
