what some people don't grasp is if a system has the potential to fail, it will, it's just a matter of time
and several us presidents saw it coming and openly warned the citizens about it, but no one understood back then as it doesn't now
it's like the new last.fm scandal: many people are quitting the site just because it has the potential to harm them, even though it's not proven they handled data to RIAA. If they haven't done it yet that doesn't mean the right amount of pressure won't determine them to do it next time
so basically a system has to be reformed as soon as the harm potential is proven, not after it acted already

Only just watched this today a bit late I know. Very interesting watch however the Venus project seems a bit farfetched and unrealistic to me. How would the society run without laws? If a murder occurs then what will happen? Also if there is no money and no work/jobs then for example how will maintenance be carried out on the city's transport etc.
Or have I just misunderstood?
What are everyones views on the Venus project?

They're important even if they're not perfect. I admire they're panache on what they're doing, especially on exposing the illusion of modern finance, but what they're proposing in its current form is unsustainable. Theodore Roszak has written brilliantly about 'plentitude' and basically how to curb infinite greed satisfactorily for the good of the planet, including humans.

i'm coming back here after a few weeks to see this thread up again and realise more people woke up meanwhile, but they are still so very few compared with the rest of the monkeys.
i'm getting to think there's a natural justice still working in this universe, and if the world is shite it's because humans are fucking stupid, most of all, then lazy, malevolent and arrogant.
many times i'm getting to the point where i think it pays off to sacrifice the few cool peeps just to see the idiots in pain. but many times i don't.
anyway, idiocy truly and literally hurts sooner or later and that's the true origin of all the pain in the world. just sometimes it hurts not only the idiots, but the people around them too.
so i smile now each time an idiot disses the immense amount of truth told by this doc because of a few errors [that are prolly less than 5% of it all]. i smile, because i know the idiot will get burnt sooner or later as he's gonna be totally exposed to and unprepared for reality. and this applies to all truth that's dismissed out of brainlessness.
so now i'm almost at peace, either option people take over truth it brings me a glimpse of joy. one of manifestations of intelligence is putting yourself in win-win situations, thank you

If the 'idiots' go down so do you as they could be turned against you, we're all in this together. Why not be more compassionate about your fellow beings and the world we live in?

so i should feel compassionate for fearing they turn against me and because we're living together with them and because of them in this shithole??
i hate them being my fellow beings! can i have the palm trees as my fellow beings?
may i be allowed to despise idiocy and lies during my short passage through this world that turned shit since people took over?
i'm sure you'll show compassion and understanding for me, thank you in advance!

You mention yourself 10 times there. Would that be the manifestation of intelligence or
narcissism ?
Alien Pimp, put down the crack-pipe and go on a 100 kilometer hike through the mountains. THEN i'll listen to what you have to say.

today was my first day at the beach with my girl in a long while! was dope! water is cold now, but acceptable, got loads of new signings last few days, i'm fucking happy and i love myself, my girl and my friends!
how are you, still desperate to find faults in my every syllable? good luck with that, you'll need it, because your brain won't help!
salutes to badger, thanks for locking that thread, that one was due long before! your closing statement could've been perfect if you said i think i'm so much better than that dozen of losers i called idiots. the rest of them are safe.

As far as I can tell, anyone that disagrees with you is an idiot, so the list just keeps growing

The palm trees ARE your fellow beings, since they are 'being' just as much as you are as is the grass, animals, fish etc. I suppose that includes the rocks and water and yeah all material creation since it is 'being'.
Work with what you've got, don't waste your life being spiteful. Just think, if everyone was more knowledgeable, considerate and compassionate wouldn't that be a nicer place to live?
