I have used both extensively and have to say i used to be pro torq until i used serato on a regular basis. For me using 1210s and a mixer serato kills it for the vinyl feel but then for people who want effects torq would be the answer.
Horses for courses I guess but in my opinion there is a noticeable difference in sound quality in favour of serato.

I use serato at the radio station, it's built into the rane mixer.
However, when it came to getting a system for home, and despite the fact I live in NZ which is where Serato is from, I got Traktor Pro.
Both work really well, but for me, Traktor just wins - the timecode is 2Hz not 1Hz, so the tracking is better when you spin-back etc.
Never used any of the other things, I like that both Serato and Traktor come with an audio box that is properly built. The Traktor box wins for me, because you can record your sets straight back thru the box into your laptop, great for gigs... and the combined, colour coded cables make it really easy toset up even when yer in a dark club, during the end of the dj before's set. I'd be too scared to try that with Serato...

they did. it's called the rane tt57.MaseTrax wrote:What I would REALLY like, is some sort of effects plug-in for Serato. Nothing too fancy, just emulation of your standard Pioneer mixer or EFX unit effects. I know I could buy either of those but I got myself a tasty Rane mixer I like![]()
Make it happen Serato!
otherwise, rane and ableton are partnering for a product release in 09. should be interesting!

Yeah, I knew the TTM57 has effects - should've been clearer. Maybe just those with the normal Serato and a mixer with zilch effects
Yeah the ableton link up is cool, but they've had one with Cycline 74 too which has not bore fruit as yet. Hopefully the clever chaps at Rane/Ableton get something out quicker. Owning both products has me salivating as to the creative possibilities!

I've been using Finalscratch 2 since it came out, never with any probs. Used it on my g3 ibook, g4 powerbook, and now my black macbook. It's make rock solid, but I'll probably buy traktor scratch pro when the time comes.
Seratos great, but holy fuck what an ugly gui. Traktor kills it in that department

I can definitely tell you that this is definitely not vapourware.MaseTrax wrote: Yeah the ableton link up is cool, but they've had one with Cycline 74 too which has not bore fruit as yet.
