yeah, i have trouble playing my own stuff out on the whole. This mix is more about cool stuff i bought but rarely get the chance to playout anyway. There will be plenty mixes of my own material coming up!

artist bios:

::: STEREOTYP :::

Based out in Vienna and simply one of the sickest producers around, Stereotyp's tracks combine deep, spiritual roots vibes and cutting edge studio wizardry. His "Jahman" (featuring Tikiman) predated the whole techy dub soundsystem thing by several years. Working under numerous aliases with a discography that's gone into several pages, he regularly plays live all over the world and is linked with Al Haca, Milanese, The Bug, Warrior Queen and many more.

Image

For this show he's taken the form of KUBO, his new project, for an exclusive deep set of ritual techno and broken beats.

KUBO is the Spirit-god of the Citrus Rhythm. He breathes beats into hollowed out wood, gives convulsions to dancers, and brings lovers to ecstasy. His beats are pure citrus - taste and colors. He is known to all tribes living in tropical climates. Although his names may vary depending on region, all his followers know that he can only be invoked by the words KOOOOOOOOH - BOOOOOOOOOOOH, which of course have to be shouted out by a beautiful woman at the peak of orgasm and to the sound of a nasty drum. KUBO can possess anything and anybody which is rhythm related: drummers, drums, lovers, spring mattresses, dancers, musicians of all sorts etc. He amplifies orgasms, gives extra swing to beats and he definitely makes everyone sweat Citrus. If you’ve ever seen anybody dressed in bright colors, with a facial expression like YOOO! straight bugging out to music; or if your girl happened to utter KOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH - BOOOOOOOOOOOH!!! while ya’ll were getting it on - then you know KUBO got em!

::: KING CANNIBAL :::

Signed to Ninja Tune and with projects out on Combat, Kriss Records and Rag and Bone, Dylan Richards aka King Cannibal is perfecting his own unique take on dancehall and filthy bass-driven beats. He's recently remixed The Qemists and Wiley, Ghislain Poirier (feat. Mc Zulu) and Ebola.

Image

It began with a series of super-evolved mixes towards the latter end of the nineties as a reaction to the glut of uninspiring mix compilations that had began to flood the industry. After 2 appearances on the legendary Solid Steel radio show, the honour of being the first unsigned act to play at Strictly Kev & D.Ks Solid Steel clubnight, 4 sets with Buddy Peace at Dedbeat 04 in the course of one weekend and a number of European dates, Warp Records stepped in and invited Buddy Peace & ZILLA to compile a retrospective of the label. Released late September 2004 as part of the 'WARP VISION The Videos' DVD, the mix entitled 'Watch And Repeat Play' was a startlingly original tour de force, over 70 minutes the two DJs re-worked and re-wired the label's back catalogue, twisting the already twisted into sonic maelstrom.

Recieving massive support from Amon Tobin (Ninja Tune,) Combat Recordings and Rag And Bone Records, 2008 saw be a year of true Cannibal Carnage due to massive radio support in the form of the recent Scorn Vs King Cannibal Soundclash Special and Aragami Style receiving HEAVY rotation both on Mary Anne Hobb's Radio 1 show and numerous gigs.

Album on Ninja Tune in 2009 :twisted:

::: SCANONE :::

Intelligent, focused and sharp beat structures reinforced with heavy bass, emotive synth lines and sci-fi fx… the sound of ScanOne. Drawing influences from his musical history, hardcore and early techno play a huge part in Jude Greenaway’s ideas, feeding over a decade of his DJ sets and production.

Image

His sound reflects this, honed to encompass a myriad of underground genres, from bass heavy electro and techno to glitched IDM and dark brooding dubstep. Equally adept as a DJ and live performer, ScanOne has performed alongside some of the biggest names in his field, in various clubs and festivals around the world. Aside from Combat, he has released tracks on labels such as Dirty Needles, Broken Fader Cartel, MIB and Blase Records.

His Seventh Bullet EP (COMBAT01) was unleashed in 2004 to great support within the electro community, with Kick It pre-empting the electro / grime crossover by a whole year. Other tracks like the electro 2-step monster Yes Yes and the mutant dubstep electro tune Dubwise were supported on the Breezeblock. 2007 saw his Toolkit EP embraced by DJs across the board from globe-trotting techno trooper Surgeon to underground electro specialist Rob Hall (Gescom) and various heads in between.

2008 saw the launch of ScanOne's own imprint Yellow Machines.

Yellow Machines 02 has just been released featuring Warlock, Mat Green, ScanOne and Blackmass Plastics.

This exclusive live set gives a hint of the destruction caused at his recent gigs in Ukraine and Malta.

Runs tings in Combat. Has a new tune out on the Jarring Effects compilaiton. Likes Jägermeister. Feels weird writing about himself.

Plays in Prague with Mala & Pokes end of January, so come along if you can.

you just made my decision whether or not to go a lot harder. There is a dnb gig with Bad Company (maldini + vegas) and Audio on the same day :-( FUCK! Also, a bunch of my friends play in this band and they'll be having a special '1st album' concert thingy. Very bad timing indeed, I'd love to be at all 3 places but I won't be able to :/.

yea that's true but I'll be sad about not being there at all when the only thing that stops me is the fact that the dates coincide.

maybe just see your friend's band since it's their first gig and they need more support ;)

it's not their first gig - I've been to a bunch and they are good but not my cup of tea. I'd absolutely love to go see BC and Audio too but ... dunno, recently I got quite fed up with dnb gigs. I'll let you know if I decide to go check SHQ

The vibes will be better at Sound Headquarters, for sure! And the music will be more interesting. Cross Club is a great venue...
