Africanized caribbean inflected 4/4, sometimes using the sound palette of dubstep and grime.

More Bounce To The Ounce at a carnival, with loads of grime kiddies and garage mc's there who used to love jungle, being fed candyfloss by a hot bit of crumpet.
I want my beats to sound like arrhythmia.

I listened to some disco tunes from the 70s this morning. Some of the beats sounded a bit like what I've been hearing funky house tunes.

How can you name a genre "funky"?! It ain't even that funky!
Funk is all about the breaks and the snare too. Don't really hear it in this music?
Think it's just a few people trying to start a new genre so they can be hailed as the creators of a genre which, in essence, is just house.
Why not call it Funky house + singing?

Why is it a catagory in dubstep forum?!?!

Its here because its hardcore continuum init. But I agree, I think some people are just trying too hard to make out its the best thing since sliced bread when really all it is is Grime producers making tribal house or some like lil Silva making funky house. Its not that new at all, yanks have been doing this for years just slightly less gritty. It really doesn't interest me, but then I never like UKG that much till it got dark. Maybe it will get darker? Personally I think that wonky hiphop and skweee is far more interesting.

Okay, so we have "funky" - brilliant, if its your thing.

But whats it got to do with dubstep fourm and why does it deserve its own section? (Genuine serious questions, would like an answer.)

because a large portion of the posters on this website have an interest in 'funky' and this subforum stops the large amount of random funky related threads in different sections of the website - so obviously it's easier to have it all in here. i don't see what the big deal is tbh, if you don't think it deserves a place here don't come here lol

I dont have a problem, im just wondering why this fourm, or the owners of this fourm, have taken it upon themselfs to try and span over another genre - surly if producers here are that serious about funky they will visit a funky only website/fourm, instead of using a small sub fourm on a dubstep website?

Or is that tottaly irrational?

"funky" is a stupid name for a genre as well

when i first joined this forum there was a grime subforum since dubstep and grime had a similar fan base, but since then that got amalgamated into the other music forum. this is no different since dubstep and funky are often (not always) liked by the same people
