Since they seem quite against the album idea i think CD compilation is the way to go for sure.

either way, it is no joke to say that boomnoise, deapoh and the rest are truly recording extremely important cultural historical document, and for that they deserve endless praise

save me and ital are on the john peel tribute show mix, altho the only record of ital i know of is like 30 seconds at the very end before it cuts to the next show, but it is a fucking riddim. think joe nice plays save me a bit too

i'm not so sure. i respect DMZ's creative integrity but i just feel that a well produced, well mastered cd of choice dmz cuts would not only be a great profit making exercise but a just reward for us avid DMZ followers, as well as a profile raising tool for both mystikz and dubstep.

in a way it feels like digital mystikz exist primarily at the dmz rave, and in the few dubs they give out to other selectas to play at fwd or wherever. which gives them a unique quality, it's true - makes dmz really special - but would it really be reductive of their body of work and their digital mystique (sorry) to release a compilation?

i think its kind of just an instinctive thing, there are strong logical arguments for getting a cd out, but it just comes down to feeling i guess. i for one have such conflicting feelings, cos blah blah etherial mist etc but at the end of the day i really really want those tunes

it's a bit tricky to say. having listened to the DMZ010 record it feels really weird hearing these tracks in full quality, full length. in one sense something is lost. i love the low quality rinse files - i love the dusty sound of dubplates. i like the mystery of wondering if something is coming out.

but then again, having one's own copy of these tracks is equally amazing. i would obviously rather that these dubs were released than unreleased.

the more tracks they hold down the better for their label and their party. if every single tune they make is on a cd, then there's no mystery...no surprises. the thing about dmz, is that you know you're going to hear nothing but exclusives. this is how you create a movement.
it's the same way metalheadz was at bluenote. it's the same way skateland was in jamaica. dubplate culture.

I agree to an extent dude, but what about when the tune/dubplate reaches its shelf-life. 'Lost dubplates' are just that, lost, and whilst noone is expecting Mala or anyone else to hand over all their weaponry on a CD for a tenner, by the same token there are plenty of tunes just gathering dust now that your average punter would sell their mum for.


for example, I can't even remember the last time I heard Changes in a dance, except in May in Bristol when Distance opened with it.
