Nice one Drew. We're really trying to transition more towards a chin-stroking vibe from the moshpit vibe so the beard thing should come in handy.

either can i.

moshing is for big venues, with security and space so that people can move around safely. at love there's simply not enough room, not enough light to see whats going on , and not enough ceiling space.

moshing in general is pretty obnoxious. it's mob mentality. its sort of like saying to someone..."i'm going to push you and make things unpleasant because i can and will."

a little more consideration please. we don't want anyone at dub war to feel pressured to dance one way or to act one way, based on what a group of people decide to do in the club. we want everyone to have a good time, and to leave in one piece.

there's a big difference between please don't and you can't. no ones saying you can't do this or that. being considerate is just a state of mind. in a club it means that you're willing to respect peoples personal space.
it means that you're aware that other people that come to hear music in a club around you, come for many different reasons, that can be beyond going nuts, jumping around and letting off steam.

we have all ages and all walks of life in there. some people come to meditate on the sound. some people come to go nuts. some people go to dance with their loved ones. some people go to see the lightshow. some people go to get drunk and escape. no one should feel imposed upon by one group of people.

the whole design of love is built around the lights and sound. you can't have one without the other, and that's why love is a special place, and unique in the city.

dub war is an "all ages" event now!?

sorry im just being a dick. seriously though. last dub war i went to i had some issues with some people. all it made me do was not go the next month. haha. and it wasnt due to anyone jumping around "blowing off steam" as you phrased it. it was a couple stinky lot kids w glowsticks and hairy armpits who ruined the vibe totally for me. they wouldnt leave me alone and were mad annoying trying to start some kind of bullshit.

for real for real. we all hear what you guys are saying. but this was something that was discussed before. bottom line? there never was any "MOSHING" at dub war.

again for the people who are new to going out to any music event. there is ALWAYS one area where ppl tend to get a little more wild. that area is always the middle/front center. if you dont wanna get bumped into, then actually dont come out AT ALL bc everytime im there im ducking arms and elbows and asses and what not. it happens all over. the place is too small for some of these events. you cant have it all though huh. or have everyone react/acting how you wish. maybe some security would be a good idea if its seirously THAT big of an issue?? just a thought?...ive had my own run in with some aggressive people...aka some 6'3" dude trying to jump my friend for absolutely NO reason. He shoved me(a girl) and hit me, pinned me up against the dj booth area...then threw me across the room. like 2 tiny people came in to break it up...things happen. but itd be a lot safer if there was someone in there to help regulate the "bullies" that come and go.

for real though man. those lights are something else. its better when its all dark as hell, some red or colored lights. not straight up flashing lights half the night. seriously makes for a cheaper night though-they fuck you up w out having to drink or do drugs.

dubstep isnt at all the most like low key, peaceful music if you ask me anyways. theres all diff kinds and some IS aggressive. so then maybe instead of trying to control crowds, ask your djs to not play such aggressive tunes? just a thought to help everyone from bitching on march 21st. (day after biz)

thats it anyways. door closed for me. not discussing this ever again. like beating a fuckin dead horse @ this point.

When I saw Loefah and Mala few years back, girls rubbed up against boys, and the vide was chill.

Then I went to the Loefah/Dusk & Blackdown show and boys danced with boys, and it was aggro, just like all the macho bs I used to put up with at hip hop and punk shows.
It's because the calibre of man at Dub War is on such a high standard. Take Sharmaji for example. Something about him just makes you want to rub up against him. Same would go for Drew Lustman if it wasn't for the funky odor.
:o

hahahahahahahaha

Dub War is HUGE! Just geting to the dancefloor requires a fair bit of rub-a-dub stylins.

from what i've seen the recent vibe (jan and feb) has been nothing short of pure niceness.

i grew up in hardcore and, in the right time and place, am all about the mosh. for me, dubstep and dance music in general isn't that place. There's a sense of connection to something larger, something positive, something humanly shared.

the same exists as a sick of it all show, but it's more about getting out a huge amount of frustration and anger. and, you know, jumping 2 feet in the air with your legs parallel to the ground.

eitherway-- nyc's always been a town where the boys and girls dance together. the dubstep nights that the dubwar crew has coordinated w/ cielo have been awesomely indicative of that.
