Core 2 Duo 2.67

4Gb 1066 ram running dual channel

osx 10.5.2

160bg & 250gb hd

----------------

mac book

core 2 duo 2.0

2 gb 667 ram

120 gb hd

I share my audiofire soundcard between the two

Both run Logic perfect with plenty of power to spare. Obviously, the top one runs with more power to spare if I ever need a ton of cpu heavy plugins.

Also, as a general rule, I run my systems with the bare amount of shit. Like no bells and whistles and shit running in the background. OS X is pretty good at running without a lot of background stuff, but I still disabled a few things like airport base station, dashboard and spotlight indexing.

The Mac's have nice Bus speeds, and use DD3 RAM. With a Mac you're paying for the integration, ease of use, support that wins awards every year, and hardware that was designed to work with a very nicely laid out interface, etc etc. There's obviously more, but those are a few good points.

I have no issues with windows box's, I have one, but I prefer my Mac's in every way. I also love to be able to work in Logic.

The first is to feel good about your consumer gullibility, the second is to use Logic. Assuming you're thinking about using Logic, that's one hell of an expensive program purchase!!! :(

I guess it could be likened to buying a Porshe. Fun, sexy (apparently), and totally OTT for running down the shop in...! :P
Yawn. Or not.

If you want a Mac, buy one. It might cost a bit more than a 'similarly specced' Windows machine but who cares? To use your terrible analogy, some of us like going down to the shops in a Porsche.

1 Twelve month contract phone, paid up front!

While that is true, my Hackintosh, which is over a year old, has gave me less problems than my brand new (as in a month old) macbook. So, I don't think it's the mac hardware that makes apple's so pimp, it's the operating system. The problems were small and easily solved with the macbook, but they were problems none the less.

I guess I'm sort of contradicting myself by saying this, but my macbook is much thinner, better designed, and they keys/trackpad feel better than any pc laptop I've ever used. But, laptops and desktops have slightly different requirements.

The point is that the operating system, not necessarily the hardware is what make macs so lovely. Sure, a g5 case is pretty, but you can buy a g5 case and put your own shit in it and no one will know the difference. Maybe back in the day apple hardware was superior. If you buy a dell or whatever, mac hardware is superior. However, if you build your machine yourself, I think that is debatable. It's kinda like saying that macs are better for graphics..lol. I work as a graphic/web designer and that is the only reason I ever use windows(that's another topic though).
