It's relative, honestly. I've been using vinyl for years and find it easier to use decks than CDJ's. I'm sure you'll find someone that will say the opposite. Matter of preference and touch when it comes to nudging and sludging.

i use one now for the show and just started to use it in the clubs too. doesn´t feel real comfy by now though.
No I didnt, not a single cd from me mate, they were for Storm on after me, there wouldn't have been no point in me carrying 30 kilos of dubs to only whip out cd's

where the output on the mixer is the same it'll just depend on the mastering of the stuff you're playing off digital.
at plastic people there's a 6db boost on the mixer for cds rather than on the cdjs themselves, but that's the only club i know of where that's the case

In my opinion buy serato scratch live because: u just use a normal turntable, no need to burn cds, it got that vinyl feel & its half the price of any good cdj.

CDs are cool for promoting your own tunes but you cannot beat the sound you get from a 12".

I use cassettes as standard. I love the sound of an eighties tape that's been recorded over fifty times, real analogue warmth

well, i dunno. to master to vinyl/dub you have to roll off, ie cut, everything above about 17kHz, which is the high end of what you can hear. it's also the kind of frequencies that cause tinitus.
add in the fact that the gain (volume) out of a CDJ deck is much louder than a vinyl deck and i defintely notice the loud sonic harshness when DJs use CDs in clubs...
lol, on most mixers theres these crazy buttons and knobs that you can EQ yourself!

crazy but true

Cheater!!!
Seriously though, a shitload of DJ's use CDJ's. I say most of them nowadays play digital in one way or another.

The ease in mixing CDs is down to the fact once the tunes are locked properly they don't stray out like on vinyl. I used to loathe using cdjs coz I found them hard to use but once you practise on them a bit it's a lot easier than vinyl however I will always prefer mixing vinyl even if I seem to be doing it less and less.

I know right... there would be quite the controversy indeed if Chef was using CD's, what, with the access to cheap dub cutting lol

i mix solely with cds... have never bought a dubstep vinyl in my life,,, however .. that probably comes with being a stubborn producer and playing all my own stuff... if i was to cut dubs.. id be 1 pooooooor guy.....

I've tried CDJs a bit but still on Vinyl, considering buying one though. I've seen a lot of big DJs using cd's recently. Makes no difference to me really, I just like the feel of vinyl

CDs,vinyl, serato, who gives a fuck!! at the end of the day, you are performing, its not a matter of being 'brave enough', wot kind of bullshit is dat!! im sure all DJs, including myself prefer vinyl. and we would all love a big bag of freshly cut dubs for every set, but how fuckin expensive is dat!! im no cheapskate, but u gotta do wot u gotta do to perform. This topic is absolutely pointless!!

I use cdj's or serato. I own cdj's but use Serato anytime I get a chance as I prefer the feeling of vinyl (even if it is only control vinyl).
One day I will pick up Serato for myself.

I use Technics and CDJs and mostly when I play a CD, I roll the top off a tiny but and the bass up the same ammount. It depends on the tune, who it's by and whether it's a released master or not.
